4 months

We have been told that 4 to 6 months are the most enjoyable.  And I must say it is off to a pretty amazing start.  His little squeals of pure joy are priceless.  Here are some of the things I want to remember from the past month…
-He weighs 14lbs and 13.5ozs (and for my sister who thinks he is a chubby baby, you weighed 18.6 lbs at your 4 month check-upJ)
-He is 25 ¼ inches long.
-He woke up with a bottom left front tooth on Sunday, Feb 19!!
-Today while screaming from his shots, I could see his bottom right tooth about to break through.
-Each morning after his first bottle, we do tummy time and watch Chuggington and then Mickey Mouse clubhouse before I go to work.
-He is such a morning person and loves to see his Mimi or G-Mama arrive to keep him, he usually greets them with a big smile and a squeal.
-His first nap of the day is in our bed, he looks so tiny in it and it is the most precious thing to see.
-Bath time with his Daddy is his favorite time of day.  He loves to kick in the water!  We have signed him up for swim classes starting April 28.
-He spent his first day away at his Mimi and Pops house and was a little angel (not that I expected any less, ha!)
-While we eat dinner, he swings in his swing and thinks it hilarious when we spin around in the bar stools to see him.
-He managed to do a complete 180 one night.  When I went to get him up the next morning his feet were where his head started out the night before.
-He has figured out that when lying alone in his pack-n-play or on the floor with his mobile, if he does this really loud fake cry/yell, that someone will come to check on him and when he sees you he gives the biggest grin.
-Mate came to see him and randomly sang Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA” and he found it to be pretty funny.
-He can almost turn over, but not quite.  However, I am not ready for the middle of the night wake-ups when he gets turned over and then can’t get back to where he wants to be.
-We now have to make sure he is strapped in his swing, he gets really excited and I am pretty sure would kick himself right out of it if he wasn't buckled in.
-As you can see in the above pic, he has started to be amused by his reflection and loves to smile and laugh at it.
I can’t wait for the months ahead as his little personality continues to develop.  He is such a little blessing!

Super Bowl Sunday

Taygan is finally starting to be able to hold himself up in his bumbo.  He is so cute sitting up in it; he looks like such a big boy! While watching the super bowl preview show yesterday, he and daddy had a little discussion about who he thought was going to win...

He has started to try and imitate the sounds that we make with our mouth and Kyte even got some chuckles out of him last night during bath time.  This is becoming such a fun age!

Swinging Smiles

Tonight Taygan was a super happy baby!  He was smiling and kicking around like crazy in his swing so I decided to try and get it on video.  He tends to stop doing whatever he is doing and stare at our phones or flip video whenever we try to get a pic of him smiling.  A couple warngings before watching this: 1. You may get motion sickness 2.  Beware of the high amounts of cuteness!  He loves to kick those little legs!

Rivalry..

Take a good look at him in that red, because it wont happen much ;)  but since he got it for Christmas we thought he should at least wear it one time!  His Carolina outfit is straight from Chapel Hill, our friends Kendra and Cody brought it back with them when they went to the Carolina vs. Texas game.

Infant to Newborn...

I skipped the blog for two months. And for good reason. It was the roughest month of my life. Looking back now though, there are things I want to remember from it.

-Postpartum is real and it does not discriminate on who it affects. It doesn’t care how good or bad your pregnancy was, it doesn’t care how easy or hard it was for you to conceive, it doesn’t care how perfect or imperfect you think your life is.  It’s deep and it’s dark.  It should be talked about more in public and without friends that were willing to talk to me about their experiences and help me realize I was not alone in feeling the way I did, I don't think I would have made it.   But I did, and I am so in love with him my baby boy!
-That being said, I do have the most amazing husband, family, and friends.  Having a sister that would drive an hour just so I wouldn’t be alone for a few hours makes me think about wanting to have a sibling for Taygan.  Then I remember all those times I wanted to choke her ;)
-Enough with the bad....my baby slept through the night for the first time!
-Having your child smile at you (without it being from gas) is one of the most incredible things in the world!
-He cried real tears for the first time at his two month shots. Which broke my heart.
-We celebrated our first Christmas as parents with Kendra, Cody and Harper. Harper and Taygan were precious together! And Taygan was spoiled rotten with all the gifts he got from our families; I am scared to see how much he gets in years to come.

Now on to 3 months...

-Just when you think your child is starting to develop a good "routine" something will happen and change it.
-A stuffy nose meant a 3am wake up for one week.
-We enjoyed lunch dates with our BFF’s, Candace and Cruz…well Cruz and Taygan slept so Candace and I enjoyed lunch ;)
-We moved him from sleeping in a little sleeper in his room to sleeping in his crib.
-The second night in his crib, he slept 10hrs!!
-He has the biggest smiles in the mornings when he wakes up, they melt our hearts!
-It is unreal how 6 bottles can turn into such massive amounts of poop.
-It is also unreal how quickly he can kick his feet and get his heels into that poop while changing his diaper.
-There is nothing more precious than seeing him sleeping in his crib on the video monitor.
-I went back to work this month, and may or may not have drove 80 all the way home when I got off.
-We are beyond blessed to be able to have moms to take care of him while we work. It is so comforting to know he is in the best hands...and be able to annoy them with text all day to check on him :)
-He loves his bath every night with his daddy. The way he looks up at him makes my heart flutter.
-He goes to bed each night around 9 and gets up around 730...for now, ha!
-He is getting taller by the minute. He is literally out growing outfits by the week.
-His favorite thing to do is lay under his baby Neptune and bat at the hanging objects.
-When he gets really excited he will kick his legs and try really hard to make a noise, I swear he is close to talking, ha!
-He loves to watch TV. Typical boy, I suppose ;)
-5 o’clock has a whole new meaning since it means I get to go home to his beautiful face!
We are beyond blessed with a healthy, growing baby boy and can't wait to continue to be filled with joy by him!!

Looking back on One Month

I only thought the time passed by fast while I was pregnant, the past month since we had this little blessing has FLOWN by. Here are some highlights and things I want to remember when looking back.

-We had Taygan and brought him home on the same Thurs and Sat of Oct that Kyte was born and brought home on 30 years ago

-The way my heart over flows with joy when I see Kyte holding him. Taygan is a spitting image of his daddy and it is precious to see him in his daddy's arms.

-I say a little thank you prayer every time Kyte comes in the door from work each evening. We have a friend who is deployed and he has a 4 month old, so the fact that we spend every evening and weekend together has a whole new meaning to me. Thank you to all our troops who sacrifice so much!

-My sleep has become much lighter, I swear I can hear him make the slightest little moan, my eyes just pop open!

-We have both been peed on more times than I can count. And I have been pooped on more than once.

-We like to pretend that when he is rooting for his bottle that he is giving us kisses. I cant wait for the day he really does give me a kiss!

-He is starting to recognize mine and Kytes voice when we speak.

-I have found myself listening to him and trying to figure out all his little cries and noises.

-His neck is super strong. He likes to keep it raised up and looking around while we try and burp him.

-Kyte loves to work on his grip and pretend that he is doing a pull up :)

-He might be the nosiest baby ever when putting himself to sleep or burping. He grunts like crazy.

-I had another first mommy moment at the doctor today at his one month check-up, Kyte had him in the waiting room while I checked in, and with all the other babies crying, as soon as he cried I knew it was my baby.

-I have also become more thankful than ever for having my family close to me in the past month, we would not have made it through it without them!

At his one month check up he was 9lbs even and was 21 3/4 inches long. Doctor gave him all A's and said he would see us back at 2 months for the dreaded shot visit.

We thank you all for you love and support!! We couldn't be happier with this handsome baby boy!
