5 Months...growing too fast!

No way are we closing in on half a year.  I cannot believe that our little guy is 5 months old today. The past month has been an absolute blast with him; he is such a happy little guy.  The sheer joy on his face whenever he sees you is one of the greatest gifts from God.  Here are some of the highlights from the past month.
-Kyte and Taygan got to have guy time while Mom was away in Charlotte for work for 5 days, and they both survived!
-We officially started brushing his “teeth”.  He has the bottom two but I know by the way he gnaws on everything and drools that more aren’t far behind.

-He rolled over for the first time on Feb 24!!  Thank goodness I got it on video because he has only done it a couple times since then.
-Most of the time he wakes up extremely happy.  A huge blessing!
-We started cereal on Saturday March 10 and his face was hysterical when he felt it in his mouth.  He has since decided he likes it a little more but would rather just have his bottle.
-No one can make him smile like his daddy.  I am not sure why he looks just like him and is a daddy’s boy L Aren’t boys suppose to look like their moms and be mama’s boys???
-He is starting to enjoy the airplane game and will smile real big when you hold him up over your head.
-He still LOVES his bath time with his daddy.  Kyte will now take him out of his seat and hold him all the way down in the water.  Taygan will float and kick around with just his face above the water.
-On Mar 17 we started giving him water out of a sippy cup with a straw.  It only took him about 2 days to figure out how to suck the water up through the straw.
-He has “found his feet” sometimes we will find him just lying in bed playing with them after he wakes up from a nap.
-We took advantage of this summer like weather and had our first run in the BOB jogging stroller…he loved it!
-He is wearing mostly size 6 month clothes, especially in Carters.  Some of the gap 3-6 month still fit him.
-We now have to strap him onto the changing pad, he could def roll off of it if he wanted to.
-He is very quick to follow you as you move about the room now and will get super excited when you make eye contact with him.  He is adorable the way he kicks, moves his arms, and smiles when he is happy.
-He is a very good traveler.  He will usually fall asleep in the car but if he doesn’t he just happily plays with the toy on his car seat.  He loves his day trips with his Mimi and G-Mama J
-He has become very good with his hands and will grab anything that you hold in front of him.  He can also hold a toy and take it to and from his mouth to chew on it.
-During one bath this month he grabbed Kyte’s hand when Kyte had a full cup of water and he dumped the water all over his face, which scared him to death for a second! Kyte picked him up and held him for a minute then he began smiling and continued to enjoy the rest of his bath.
-He had his first ride in his stroller out of his carrier.  Such a big boy!

4 months

We have been told that 4 to 6 months are the most enjoyable.  And I must say it is off to a pretty amazing start.  His little squeals of pure joy are priceless.  Here are some of the things I want to remember from the past month…
-He weighs 14lbs and 13.5ozs (and for my sister who thinks he is a chubby baby, you weighed 18.6 lbs at your 4 month check-upJ)
-He is 25 ¼ inches long.
-He woke up with a bottom left front tooth on Sunday, Feb 19!!
-Today while screaming from his shots, I could see his bottom right tooth about to break through.
-Each morning after his first bottle, we do tummy time and watch Chuggington and then Mickey Mouse clubhouse before I go to work.
-He is such a morning person and loves to see his Mimi or G-Mama arrive to keep him, he usually greets them with a big smile and a squeal.
-His first nap of the day is in our bed, he looks so tiny in it and it is the most precious thing to see.
-Bath time with his Daddy is his favorite time of day.  He loves to kick in the water!  We have signed him up for swim classes starting April 28.
-He spent his first day away at his Mimi and Pops house and was a little angel (not that I expected any less, ha!)
-While we eat dinner, he swings in his swing and thinks it hilarious when we spin around in the bar stools to see him.
-He managed to do a complete 180 one night.  When I went to get him up the next morning his feet were where his head started out the night before.
-He has figured out that when lying alone in his pack-n-play or on the floor with his mobile, if he does this really loud fake cry/yell, that someone will come to check on him and when he sees you he gives the biggest grin.
-Mate came to see him and randomly sang Miley Cyrus “Party in the USA” and he found it to be pretty funny.
-He can almost turn over, but not quite.  However, I am not ready for the middle of the night wake-ups when he gets turned over and then can’t get back to where he wants to be.
-We now have to make sure he is strapped in his swing, he gets really excited and I am pretty sure would kick himself right out of it if he wasn't buckled in.
-As you can see in the above pic, he has started to be amused by his reflection and loves to smile and laugh at it.
I can’t wait for the months ahead as his little personality continues to develop.  He is such a little blessing!

Super Bowl Sunday

Taygan is finally starting to be able to hold himself up in his bumbo.  He is so cute sitting up in it; he looks like such a big boy! While watching the super bowl preview show yesterday, he and daddy had a little discussion about who he thought was going to win...

He has started to try and imitate the sounds that we make with our mouth and Kyte even got some chuckles out of him last night during bath time.  This is becoming such a fun age!

Swinging Smiles

Tonight Taygan was a super happy baby!  He was smiling and kicking around like crazy in his swing so I decided to try and get it on video.  He tends to stop doing whatever he is doing and stare at our phones or flip video whenever we try to get a pic of him smiling.  A couple warngings before watching this: 1. You may get motion sickness 2.  Beware of the high amounts of cuteness!  He loves to kick those little legs!

Rivalry..

Take a good look at him in that red, because it wont happen much ;)  but since he got it for Christmas we thought he should at least wear it one time!  His Carolina outfit is straight from Chapel Hill, our friends Kendra and Cody brought it back with them when they went to the Carolina vs. Texas game.

Infant to Newborn...

I skipped the blog for two months. And for good reason. It was the roughest month of my life. Looking back now though, there are things I want to remember from it.

-Postpartum is real and it does not discriminate on who it affects. It doesn’t care how good or bad your pregnancy was, it doesn’t care how easy or hard it was for you to conceive, it doesn’t care how perfect or imperfect you think your life is.  It’s deep and it’s dark.  It should be talked about more in public and without friends that were willing to talk to me about their experiences and help me realize I was not alone in feeling the way I did, I don't think I would have made it.   But I did, and I am so in love with him my baby boy!
-That being said, I do have the most amazing husband, family, and friends.  Having a sister that would drive an hour just so I wouldn’t be alone for a few hours makes me think about wanting to have a sibling for Taygan.  Then I remember all those times I wanted to choke her ;)
-Enough with the bad....my baby slept through the night for the first time!
-Having your child smile at you (without it being from gas) is one of the most incredible things in the world!
-He cried real tears for the first time at his two month shots. Which broke my heart.
-We celebrated our first Christmas as parents with Kendra, Cody and Harper. Harper and Taygan were precious together! And Taygan was spoiled rotten with all the gifts he got from our families; I am scared to see how much he gets in years to come.

Now on to 3 months...

-Just when you think your child is starting to develop a good "routine" something will happen and change it.
-A stuffy nose meant a 3am wake up for one week.
-We enjoyed lunch dates with our BFF’s, Candace and Cruz…well Cruz and Taygan slept so Candace and I enjoyed lunch ;)
-We moved him from sleeping in a little sleeper in his room to sleeping in his crib.
-The second night in his crib, he slept 10hrs!!
-He has the biggest smiles in the mornings when he wakes up, they melt our hearts!
-It is unreal how 6 bottles can turn into such massive amounts of poop.
-It is also unreal how quickly he can kick his feet and get his heels into that poop while changing his diaper.
-There is nothing more precious than seeing him sleeping in his crib on the video monitor.
-I went back to work this month, and may or may not have drove 80 all the way home when I got off.
-We are beyond blessed to be able to have moms to take care of him while we work. It is so comforting to know he is in the best hands...and be able to annoy them with text all day to check on him :)
-He loves his bath every night with his daddy. The way he looks up at him makes my heart flutter.
-He goes to bed each night around 9 and gets up around 730...for now, ha!
-He is getting taller by the minute. He is literally out growing outfits by the week.
-His favorite thing to do is lay under his baby Neptune and bat at the hanging objects.
-When he gets really excited he will kick his legs and try really hard to make a noise, I swear he is close to talking, ha!
-He loves to watch TV. Typical boy, I suppose ;)
-5 o’clock has a whole new meaning since it means I get to go home to his beautiful face!
We are beyond blessed with a healthy, growing baby boy and can't wait to continue to be filled with joy by him!!
