22 weeks & 8 years :)

Sunday marked 22 weeks. The pics above and below are from yesterday, so 22 weeks 2 days and definitely growing! I am now able to feel movement most of the time when he is awake. He tends to wake up around 10pm and I feel him most of time if I wake up in the middle of the night. He is usually moving around from the time I wake up until 10am or so when he goes back to sleep for the rest of the day. My sister was able to feel and see him move for the first time this past Saturday. We spent a weekend up in Gatlinburg at a cabin and when I woke up around 630am Saturday he was performing some gymnastics in there :) After Mate finally woke up he gave one more flip for her to feel and then settled down for a nap.

I am still feeling really good and thankfully sleeping well. I am having some minor lower back pain, but nothing major. Last week I splurged and purchased a "snoogle" pregnancy body pillow, it arrived yesterday and I can't wait to put it to use!

Yesterday, June 21, was mine and Kyte's 8 year anniversary. I am not real sure where 8 years has gone!! We enjoyed a delicious dinner downtown at Zambras. Even though I wasn't able to indulge in my favorite item on the menu, sesame encrusted scallops, it was still an amazing dinner.

Another amazing first...

Last night while laying down just before bed , I got out the heart monitor and began to listen to the little guys heartbeat. After finding him for a few seconds, I noticed my belly jump on the left side, then the heartbeat move, and then another jump. So I yelled for Kyte to come be able to see and feel him move for the first time. Well, this happened to also be the same time that Jason Aldean and Ludacris were performing on the CMA's, so of course after DJ Kyte finished watching that only then did he come to see what I was yelling about :) We were able to lay there for several minutes and watch him move!! Kyte was also able to hold his hand on my belly and feel him moving all around while I chased him with the heart monitor. Such an amazing expierence!! He seems to be very active around bedtime but settles down as I fall asleep and has yet to wake me up in the middle of the night, although I am sure those times aren't far away!

Halfway There and All the way Blessed :)

We had our 20 week (yay for halfway!!) sonogram today and we have a healthy, active, growing baby boy!! All the measurements were right in line with where they should be. His heartbeat was 147. His kidneys were just a little large for 20-weeks but Dr. Councell said that its very normal and 99 out of 100 times when they check them again in 4 weeks they will be normal. He said to just think of it as a good excuse to sneak one more ultra sound in, woohoo! He was moving around the whole time so some of the ultrasound pics are a tad blurry, as the nurse was trying to snap the pics she said "You have one happy baby" :) He is breech right now, but we hope that with plenty of time left he changes that! And we had one more pic to confirm that we definitely have a little man ;) I have been able to feel him moving around for the past few days now. I actually felt him for the first time the afternoon I sent out the previous blog post about not being able to feel him yet, ha! It is the most incredible feeling! I have seen my belly actually move twice while using the heart monitor to listen to his little heartbeat, of course Kyte wasn't looking directly at my stomach so he hasn't seen it just yet. As of my appointment I have gained 7lbs. Thank you all so much for your continued thoughts and prayers, we are so blessed to have a healthy baby on the way!

19 weeks & Memorial Day Weekend

For the memorial day weekend we were lucky enough to be able to go to the beach with the Hightowers. The weather was super nice, we had a little breeze so it didn't feel quite as hot as it really was during the day. I now have a visible baby bump that I made sure to keep lathered up with sunscreen :) On Sunday I was 19 weeks.

It is crazy how much more sensitive my skin is to the sun since I have been pregnant, I got plenty of sun even with 50 spf on! Kyte of course spent much of his time during the day making his famous drip sand castles, pretty soon he will have two more little hands helping him ;)

Our next doctor appt is on Monday at 2pm. We will be doing all the measurements to make sure this little guy is growing and developing as he should be. We appreciate all your continued thoughts and prayers for a healthy baby :) I am still anxiously waiting to be able to feel him move and know for sure that it's him. Most of my friends have said they were able to start feeling movement on a daily basis at 20 weeks, so hopefully this week or next I will feel him.

It's a BOY!!!

Kyte and I are so happy to say.... we will be having a little BOY!! We both kinda had a feeling that it was a boy, but we didn't want to get too excited until we saw for sure. The 3-D ultrasound was so neat to see. He was very active and cooperated pretty quickly so that we could see "he" was a "he" :) His little legs were moving all around so we got several looks to see his little boy parts. I think Kytes response to it being a boy was something like "whew, I have a lot less to worry about" ha!

Most of you know that Kyte has a nervous habit of picking at his lip and I am constantly on him to stop. Well, this little guy had his hand up at his mouth for the WHOLE ultrasound!

To tell what we are having we decided to have everyone over and do a gender reveal party. Kytes dad catered an amazing dinner and then we played a little game to tell everyone boy or girl. We had bought both a "It's a boy" and "Its a girl" banner and after we found out that it was a boy we removed one letter from the "Its a girl" banner. We put all the letters from each banner in envelopes and then handed them out. We then told everyone to look in the envelopes and form the banners and the complete banner would tell them the sex. I had no idea how comical it would be to watch 14 adults work together to try and form these two short sentences, haha! After a few hectic minutes and some direction from Katie, they finally realized the girl banner was incomplete, but neither sentence was ever formed ha!. DJ Kyte then played the song he had picked out, "Let's hear it for the boy" and we put all our ultrasound pics up on the TV. Below are some pics of the confusion during the game and some pics from throughout the evening.

One set of proud grandparents and providers of an amazing dinner!

And another set..

We are so blessed to have such amazing friends and family to share this wonderful experience with!!!

"17" Week Check-up

We had our "17 week" (I am 16wks 2days) check up today and got to hear the little heart beat, beating away at around 150 this time. This visit was pretty short since everything is thankfully going well. We scheduled our 20 week ultrasound on June 6.

Being an impatient person, I decided that that date seems like eternity away, so I called and scheduled a 3-D ultrasound to find out the sex a couple weeks earlier on Monday May 23 :) We are going to do the 3-D at Vision of Life where a couple of my friends have also had them done. We will still be doing the big ultrasound at my regular doctors office so that we have the check on all the baby's measurements to make sure he/sure is healthy and growing as he/she should be.

Happy Mothers Day!!

Today marks 16 weeks and a beautiful Mothers Day! I am so blessed to have a wonderful Mom, Step-Mom, and Mom-in-Law in my life :) Yesterday I ran the Ramble Run 5k with my step-mom and step grandmother, meaning we had four generations taking part in the race!

The course was quite hilly and keeping my heart rate around 140 was definitely a challenge, but I finished!!

Now you are up to date with our baby journey. We have our "17 week" (I will actually be 16wks 2 days) check-up this Tuesday and will then schedule our sonogram to find out the sex, and yes, we for sure want to know what this little baby is :)
