Easter 2013

Can you believe how much this little guy has changed in a year?! Where did my baby go?! It seems to be an Easter Tradition for him to sleep in. This year he woke up a little after 9am, maybe he will wake up earlier when he knows the Easter Bunny is coming. This year the Easter Bunny left a trail to his basket...

I would hate for you think that the whole day went by and this adorable face never once cried...

But snap into reality...
Yep, that is how the family picture went.  Welcome to life with a toddler. So needless to say shortly after those melt downs, it was nap time.  For all of us.
I had decided that I wasn't going to dye eggs with him this year since his little hands move way faster than mine.  But since the weather was nice, we headed out to the back to dye some (after the nap of course.)
After they dried, we gave them to him to see what he would do with them.
And I guess because he was used to the plastic eggs and them coming apart in the center, he thought these should too.
His reaction to it breaking apart is priceless, I just love his little voice...
And a pic from the day after Easter to close, this is what our house is like most evenings just before bedtime when we let Allie in to say goodnight.
He goes crazy when he sees his doggie!

17 Months and this is what I know.

I won't bore you with too much more rambling on my little guy since I just wrote a post 2 weeks ago.  I am not sure how much more I could say, yeah right I could talk for DAYS!  This little guy is changing and learning things so quickly.  Kyte and I were away for just 3 days and now all of a sudden he can say "bite bite" and "bye BYE" instead of just bye.
Here is some of what he knows at 17 months: (please note where he sits down to show me his shoes: on the block around the fireplace, this is his favorite seat in the house.  As you can see he already had the pot he was playing with placed there.  And he only sits on this left side of it, never on the other side)
I must give credit to Mimi, who so brilliantly turned what we used to refer to as his "billy goat laugh" when he was a baby into his answer to "What does the sheep say?" ha!
Due to a little bout with some dry skin patches where his diaper rubs him, we have went to bath time just every other night.  On nights without a bath, he gets a few minutes to run around naked, which may or may not have lead to several amusing incidents of him peeing in the floor.  But not only does he love it, it may be the cutest thing EVER.  As soon as his diaper comes off he runs out of his room, down the hall, away from Kyte and I...here he is whipping it around the corner.
Ah, these two are growing way too fast!!
The kid refuses to wear a hat so we don't buy him many, we just try them on in the store.  I swear it took  us 345 pics to get this one with it on his head and his hands not in motion to take it off.

Sweet boy exhausted from an afternoon at g-mama's
He couldn't decide if he wanted dad's dress shoe or the house slipper so he brought both out of the bedroom and went for the more comfy choice.  Smart boy.
And I will leave you with this hysterically video of him after Allie's tail.  Bless her heart, she is SOOOOO good with him. Please excuse his naked bottom, it wasn't bath night so he was airing out ha! The pure joy when he grabs her nub is just too adorable not to share.

Snow Day!!

We finally had a measurable snow at the house!!  This was the first one since Taygan was born.  So Taygan and I got a snow day!  Only problem was that Kyte hates to buy anything warm for Taygan because he swears he is ALWAYS hot so we had NO snow clothes.  I put on my mom thinking cap and came up with some layering for "snow clothes" and we headed out.  However I forgot one main part of a snow outfit.  Gloves. Right away it was way too cold on his little hands and he wanted me to get the snow off of them.

As a result our snow fun lasted about 5 mins, ha!  But it was very pretty from the porch.

Other things happening with this crazy 16 month old:
-Pitching of fits. Yes, all out fits.  Sit in the floor and dramatically cry.
-On a bright note, he dramatically laughs too.  Complete with knee slaps.
-He loves to play hide-n-seek.
-The lid drawer is his favorite place to play.
-Being an over reactive first time mom, I made a dr appt to check some little lumps out at the base of his neck.  They are normal lymph nodes (thank goodness), and the dr said he was a perfect healthy boy (duh!)
-All four of his molars have broken through the gums.  One is completely in.
-His first "eye" tooth (I think that's what it's called) is starting to come in.
-He wears a size 5 shoe (when Kyte will leave them on him.  The kid has the hottest feet EVER.)
-He still loves getting a haircut.

-"Shoes" is one of his favorite words.  Only becasue he knows that putting them on means he gets to go outside, which is his favorite place to be.
-I am considering trying the word "No" in a language other than English.  He does not seem to be getting it or listen to me care when I say it in English.
-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse is still his favorite show.
-His favorite book is a baby Einstein book "I See Me".  Believe me, I have read it 105002 times.
Not a day passes that Kyte and I don't put him to bed and walk out of his room saying what a cute little guy he is.  He makes our days.  His smile will light up a room and we are beyond blessed to have such a healthy, happy toddler!

Scrub'a Dub-Dub, Crazy Boy in the Tub

Since his first bath, bath time has been his and Kyte's favorite time of the day.  No surprise since Kyte would practically live in the tub when he was little and would still stand in the shower until he shriveled up.  Seriously, bath time is magical for Taygan.  He can be fussy, crying and just a mess, but put him in the tub and he is in the best mood ever.   Just recently he started to make himself laugh over nothing and then just keep laughing, which makes Kyte and I laugh until we cry.  Here is an episode from bath time one night this week.  Mind you he isn't laughing AT anything, just laughing to hear himself laugh.
I know, I know, it's a hard job to be this guys mom, but someone has to do it.
I think these two would do this 24 hours a day.

I am not happy with how big my baby, ugh toddler looks in this pic.  But he is adorable :) We brush teeth every morning and night.  After we brush them for him for a few seconds, he has to be a big boy and brush on his own.

What does Mom say?

So I have thought from the very beginning of my use of the word "No" with Taygan that he found it to be a big joke.  Little did I know that he knew exactly what I was saying and what it meant.  While upstairs one evening, he was banging on the TV screen and as I repeatedly told him NO and asked him to stop (as he continued, with out flinching) I finally said "Taygan, what did Mom say?!?" What happened next totally caught me off guard.  He turned around, looked right at me and said "NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNoooooooooooooooooooo".  Well, that answers that question.  He knows EXACTLY what I am saying.  So he will now do something that he is not suppose to and then yell NO.  Oh these next few years of the terrible two's two-sixteen, should be fun! Here for your enjoyment is Taygan telling you what Mom says....and a bright note, at least he signs "Thank You" to me at the end when I thank him for walking away from the fireplace ha!

Christmas

I guess I should have wrote this post before the previous one, but seeing as how it's Jan it really doesnt matter I suppose.
We had one failed attempt at seeing Santa.
I was hoping that Taygan would somewhat be into opening his presents this year, but not so much.  And holy cow, he got A LOT of presents.  My living room and upstairs looks like Toys R Us and Target threw up in them.
The Saturday before Christmas we celebrated with the Ferrell's...
And we continued our ritual of Christmas Eve Japanese with Aunt Mate, when she gave him his new shoes to wear (obvi, b/c they matched his outfit).
Christmas morning... Santa came!!

Christmas day (Disclamer:Aunt Mate styled his hair)...

We are so lucky to have family so close and get to celebrate with all of them, this is one day I wish I had taken a few more pics.  It seems that as the day went on, we took less and less pics.
Here is one pic from Thanksgiving that I must share, everyone says Taygan is going to have a big smile like me and in case there is any doubt where it comes from...
Oh sweet moments.

Pause Button Please

How has it been over 2 months since I last posted?? And how has it been almost 2 years since this pic...

Those shoes looked so big at the Gender Reveal Party in May 2011 and now..

I wish I had a pause button.  Taygan is at such a fun age!  I am that obsessive mom who takes pictures of EVERY single thing he does.  I am ok with that. Soon enough he will be at the age when he wont smile for a picture for me.  Here are some highlights from over the past couple months:

-On Christmas morning (I will post Christmas pics in a seperate post) he started doing this gasp and then opening his mouth and acting surprised.  I think he picked it up from Kyte and doing it when he would do something new and we would act so proud.  Well, obviously its much cuter when he does it :)

-Peek-a-boo is his favorite game

-Bathtime is still his favorite time of day.  He now will voluntarily stick his own face down in the water and blow bubbles.  I honestly think if we made the water a little deeper he would go all the way under it.
-He fell off the couch for the first time.  But, since about 12 months, he learned how to climb off feet first and we dont worry about him.  He will even get off our bed with no help.
-The little monkey figured out how to take the outlet covers out of the outlets.
-Very rarely will he relax and just sit with us on the couch, but when he does he goes all out
-Kyte found a power wheels GL that he HAD to have for Taygan.  So I was the crazy mom in line at Target on T-Day, ready to mow down anyone who stood between me and this toy made for a 3yr old that I was getting for my 1 yr old.  5 mph doesnt seem that fast until you put your child in it and hit the gas.  Needless to say, it stays turned off and he climbs in and out of it for now.
-And let's his bff, Cruz, hang out in it with him.

-And, of course has to keep it clean (Kyte Jr.).
-He is doing really well with learning baby sign language.  We have mastered all done, please, more, and thank you.
-There still isnt much he wont eat.  I know that day is coming.
-We still go to Highland Brewery every Friday, but instead of the boys hanging out in their carriers asleep, they are RUNNING everywhere. To catch a pic of them is practically impossible.
Note our tight grips on them, haha!
-While Dad does push-ups, Taygan will climb on his back and then go for a ride.
-He also does squats while we do them and will do one for you if you ask him.
-We take him for a run every Saturday morning and he usually will take a nap while Kyte pushes him. Running with a 25lb weight is def a challenge, esp with the hills around Asheville.  This is a pic from the Jingle Bell 5k we ran in Dec.

Ok, I think that's enough for now.  (Side note: Elizabeth Baker, I hope you enjoyed this post)
